EU & EEA FAMILY PERMITS

Are you an EEA national permanently resident in the UK looking to bring your non-EEA family members to the UK to live with you?

The EEA family permit is a form of entry clearance to the UK, allowing non-EU national family members to enter the UK under EU law to join you.

EU & EEA Family Permits

Overview:

You may apply for an EEA family permit, if you are  the close or extended family member of an EEA or Swiss citizen living in the UK.

Eligibility:

The EEA citizen you are joining must:

•  Be living in the UK or travelling with you to the UK, within six months of the date of your application.

• They need to be a ‘qualified person’, (if they have been in the UK for over three months), or they must be eligible for a permanent residence document.

•  You must also apply for a EEA family member permit outside the UK.

If your application is successful the permit will be issued to you and you will be given  an initial leave to remain in the UK for up to 6 months.

Note:  you may also be eligible to apply for an EU Settlement Scheme Family Permit. You can apply for this permit if your EEA or Swiss family member is not a ‘qualified person’ or they do not have a ‘permanent residence document’.

You may apply for an EU Settlement Scheme Family Permit  if you are a close family member of an EEA or Swiss National who has been granted settled or pre-settled status under the EU settlement scheme.

Both family permits are currently running concurrently until the UK leaves the EU. Once this transition period has ended, the EEA family permit will no longer be available.
