THE FIANCE VISA 

If you are a non -UK national, wishing to apply to join family members in the UK, for a period exceeding 6 months, as a spouse, a fiancé, a partner, a child, parent or relative, you may wish to apply for a family visa. 

You may also be eligible to switch to a family visa in order to stay with you child, fiancé, or partner, if you are currently living in the UK on a different visa . 

There are many variations of a family visa, depending on your relationship with the UK settled person. We are equipped to handle all aspects of family migration, and can advise you on your visa application and process. 

The Fiancé Visa Application

This Visa allows you and you partner to settle in the UK together. It is 

designed to allow persons outside the EEA and  non-UK nationals, to

enter the UK in order that they can marry or begin a civil partnership

with their British partner, who is settled in the UK.

Stay: 

 

 

You will be required to satisfy the following criteria for this application: 

 

•  You  and your partner must be a minimum age of 18 years

old. 

•  The Relationship Requirement- You will need to demonstrate that

your relationship is ‘genuine’ and that you intend to marry in the UK,

within the 6 month validity period . You must also have met your

partner face to face prior to the application being made.

•  As you are not entitled to work whilst you are on a fiancé visa, your

fiancé must either possess enough savings for both of you to live

on or must be earning at least £18,600 per annum before tax. If you 

are bringing children with you to the UK, your partner must earn an

additional £3,800 for the first child and additional £2,400 for each

additional child after this. This income can be a combination of self-

employment earnings, a UK Pension, savings that meet the wage

threshold, sick pay, paternity pay,  income from rental payments,

shares and investments. 

•  Suitable accommodation must also be arranged for theApplicant &

any dependents upon their arrival to the UK. 

 

This visa will grant you entry to the UK for a period of 6 months,

during which time, you must marry your fiancé in

the UK.

 

Once married, you may switch from a fiancé visa to a spouse

visa which will give you the right to live & work in the UK. This

application can be made from within the UK. If granted, a spouse visa

will allow you to remain in the UK for a total of 30 months and can be extended for a further period of 30 months. Once you have been living

in the UK for a period of 5 years, you can choose to apply for

indefinite leave to remain.
