THE STANDARD VISITOR VISA

Whether you are an individual or business seeking to visit the UK for business, tourism, to see family or for private medical treatment, we possess the experience to help you make a successful application.

The Standard Visitor Visa Application

This visa will allow you to travel to the UK, for a short-term stay, and

will usually restrict you to a maximum single visit of 6 months or less.

It can be used as a shorter business visa, academic visa, tourist visa,

or for holiday purposes etc. With this visa, you may enter and leave

the UK multiple times within the time period.

The Standard Visitor Visa now covers a range of other visit visas to

the UK, including the Family Visitor Visa, the Student Visitor visa (not

to be confused with the Tier 4 (Student Visa), the Child Visitor Visa,

the Sports Visitor Visa , The Business Visitor Visa, The Entertainer

Visitor Visa, The Prospective Entrepreneur Visa etc.

Those travelling to the UK for up to 48 hours as part of a stop-over

flight, planning to pass through immigration control, before leaving

the UK, will also require a UK Visitor in Transit visa.

If you are from outside the EEA or Switzerland and wish to visit the UK,

you may check whether you are required to apply for a Standard Visitor Visa via the GOV.UK website here .

Note, if you have the right abode in the UK, you will not need to apply

for a Visitor Visa to visit the UK, but may apply for a Certificate of

Entitlement.

Additionally, if you have been invited to the UK as an expert in your

profession and are being paid by a UK company to provide your

expertise, you may wish to apply for a Permitted Paid Engagement

Visa instead of the Standard Visitor Visa.

More about 'Leave of Stay':

Although, with the standard Visitor Visa, you will usually only be

allowed to stay in the UK for up to 6 months, if you are a non-EEA

academic visitor on sabbatical coming to the UK for research,  or you

are planning on receiving private medical treatment in the UK, you

may be able to apply for a longer term stay under the Biometric

Enrolment Process.

There are also various long-term standard visitor visas that you may

apply for if you are planning on visiting the UK regularly, over a longer

period of time. These visas will last for a period of 2 years, 5 years or

10 years, however, you are still only entitled to stay for a maximum of

6 months on each visit.

Eligibility Requirements:

As a non-EEA national you will have to demonstrate the following:

• That you intend to leave the UK at the end of your visit and do not

plan to stay longer than 6 months.

• Evidence of the activities that you intend to do in the UK, including

business and other activities.

• That you can afford your inward and outward journeys, (including

flights).

• That you have access to sufficient funds in order to support and

house yourself, and any dependents throughout your stay in the UK,

without recourse to public funds.
